St. Peter the Fisherman has been both life-giving and given life by reaching out into the greater New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater areas. Our identity has been deeply formed by the desire to share the bounties that God has so graciously given to us. Habitat is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds. St. Peter’s parishioners volunteer in building projects, support individual houses and provide free housing for university students from various northern colleges while in Florida working on Habitat houses during their spring breaks.
Cards of encouragement and prayers are sent monthly to those serving our country, names are submitted by our parishioners and signed by our Rector. Twice per year those active duty personnel are given $25 gift cards or care package. We hold a Remembrance Day celebration in November for our veterans.
Members are involved in ministry occurring at the Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum, Boys and Girls Club and the Police Athletic League (PAL).
