St Peter the Fisherman is an Episcopal church. We are Protestant and our joyous worship services are based on Episcopal traditions. Yet even that varies depending upon which service you attend and how beachy you want to be. For example, the beach service is the most informal service, a brief message, communion all the while looking out into the Atlantic Ocean as the sun is setting (swimsuits or shorts recommended). Or the Sunday services tend to have more traditional format but the joy is not dampened by stuffy attire, recommend flip flops and shorts.
Episcopalians focus on agreement with other denominations rather than differences. Thus, we welcome all who come through our door. There are no barriers to worship and participation at St. Peter’s.
The church is located at 4220 Saxon Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Directions from SR 44 - Drive over the South Causeway bridge on SR-44 then turn right onto Saxon Drive (CVS is on the corner). Come down 2.44 miles and the church is on the right-hand side of the road. For your convenience, an additional parking lot is across the street if needed.
The beach service is held just north of Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park located at 6656 S. Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL. Park anywhere along the seawall where you can find a spot. Walk toward the north end of the parking area,by the lifeguard tower. Walk down to the main entrance of the beach and you will see the gathering. You may want to bring a chair or something to sit on.
