Lord, Have Mercy

The Psalms illustrate the biblical tradition of crying out to God for mercy, acknowledging human limitation and affirming God’s merciful nature.

In the Gospel story of the ten lepers who cry out to Jesus for mercy. All are healed, but only one—a Samaritan—returns to give thanks and worship. Puccetti highlights the significance of this man’s response: not only did he receive healing, but he sought communion with God, recognizing Jesus as the true High Priest and divine presence.

In the Eucharist, believers today encounter the real presence of Christ. Like the Samaritan, worshipers are invited to respond to God’s mercy with gratitude, love, and worship.
