The Lamb Wins

On this All Saints Day message, Peter Tepper invites us to see the Church through the eyes of heaven. Drawing from Revelation 7, he challenges the common misconception that the church is a building or merely a gathering on Sunday. Instead, the Church is the vast family of God stretching across generations, nations, and eternity itself.

Through four movements from John’s vision, we discover what it means to belong to God’s people. First, the Church is washed: not made up of perfect people, but redeemed sinners whose robes have been made white through the blood of Christ. Second, the Church is waiting, living in hope for the day when Christ’s victory is fully revealed. Third, the Church is wrestling, facing the realities of grief, doubt, suffering, and spiritual conflict in a broken world. Yet the story does not end there. The Church is also winning, not because of its own strength, but because Jesus Christ has already conquered sin, death, and hell.

Along the way, listeners are encouraged to lift their eyes beyond the ordinary imperfections of local church life and catch a glimpse of the glorious Church spread throughout time and space but rooted in eternity. All Saints Day reminds us that we belong to something far greater than ourselves and that there is still “plenty of good room” in God’s kingdom for others to join the family of faith.
